Millet's Shower Party

This is the first time we used our new set of pink skirting, albeit because of Ms. Millet's expected baby is a girl. We would have glady featured her (Ms. Millet) here, but she refused on the belief it's bad to have yourself portraited (meron ba salitang ganon?) when you're preggie. Anyways, we feel our table set-up complemented the family's cozy set up.

We wish Ms. Millet the best of the period of her baby rearing, and best wishes!

Here's our menu for the July 16 occasion: mixed veggie with tofu, chicken casserole, fish fillet in sweet & sour sauce, beef teriyaki, chinese fried rice, cream of mushroom, and pichi-pichi.

Happy Birthday Andy!

Our last stint in ALJ Recreational Center has been nearly a year ago. Indeed, we had euphoric feeling when we saw familiar faces; our 'long-time-no-look' friends who have been very supportive of our small business.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Andy Layugan who gave us the chance to visit the place once again by catering to his birthday celebration, though on a very short notice.

We are hopeful we can fully set our tables and our newly set skirting in the garden once again.

To Andy, dude...happy 54th birthday! (oops...buko na b ang age?)

Here's the menu:

Mixed Pansit Bihon/Canton
Beef Kare-kare
Chicken with Cashew Nuts
Mixed Seafoods Fried Riced

Ube Cake

"Calm down, yo people! All yo got to shush now!" (oopss..just mimicking radio RX93's voice over).

Anyways, it's a pleasure to present an addition to our food collection. To all you "sweet tooth-ers" out there, we bring you 'Ube Cake'. Our medium size is about the size of regular plate, around 2.5 in tall. You can have a bite of this sweetie and share with your loved ones at SR50. The large is SR90.

This weekend, we also served of the classic Pinoy Kakanin specials, the sapin-sapin. Bon apetit!

Full House Thursday

It was a full-packed Thursday with two simultaneous caterings in Al Hamra Ville, and another for pick-up. These people are all "repeat customers" and we could not say 'no'. What we did however was to beg off for an hour or two, or how we say it.... "pwede later" (with matching grin of our face).

We were just toying the idea that if we only have a choice, it would be nice to have one on a Thursday and the other one on a Friday. That way, we could have stayed a while with the celebrations, and made "chika" to our new-found friends who, we heard, felt we're snubbing their parties. But let us be clear: "we are NOT snubs. We were just SO exhausted."

Not that we are complaining, though. We loved it. In fact, it was a case of "eustress", you know, that feeling of stressed out but in a good way. Anyways, here are the events that transpired July 3, 2009:

Event 1: Criselle's Birthday

The lovely girl on the picture is Criselle. At the age 7, she is slowly showing her charms as a woman. Hala! Pareng Boyet, prepare for a long-line of suitors when she grows up.

The party was held at their humble abode at Al Hamra, with an expectant guests of nearly a 100, we wonder how they fit. Here's the menu we prepared during the occasion: Hamonado, Fish Fillet in Sweet & Sour sauce, Chicken with Cashew Nuts, Chinese fried rice, Cream of mushroom soup, assorted Pinoy sweets composed of empanada, pichi-pichi, tarts, & kutsinta.

Here's the other one: birthdays of our two buddies, Freddie & Louie. (Nagtitipid kaya nagsabay na lang daw sila ng celebrations. Joke! Hehehe!) Nevertheless, what is more important is that you both guys celebrate life, and we wish you continued success!

Long Live Pansit!

For us Pinoys, it has become customary to serve food that represents 'long-life'. During birthdays, fiestas, or any handaan, pansit has become a staple in our table, be it 'pansit canton, pansit bihon, pansit malabon, spaghetti, and a lot more.

Here' s two of the pahabol orders we had late last week:

Mixed pansit canton/bihon

Pansit Malabon

Note that we put an "inset pix" so you would have idea as to the size of a 'take-out order'.

For the information of our readers, Pansit Palabok differs from Pansit Malabon while they taste almost the same. This is because both use almost the same toppings and some ingredients such as shrimps, squids, and mussels (if available).

If you take a look at filipinoforum.net and marketmanila.com, their forums do not seem to come up with a definitive difference. Some claim the difference lies in the noodles used, while some, in the main pampalasa. However, both agree that Pansit Palabok is the more saucy one.

Pansit Malabon, having originated in Malabon, (noted for its fishponds and fishing boats) uses all the seafood condiments; whereas Pansit Palabok, seafoodwise, is limited to shrimp and shredded tinapa as pampalasa.

But both make use of achuete or anatto to give that orangy color. Both are garnished with shredded tinapa, ground chicharon, and fried minced garlic. And of course, a shake of lemon-pepper-salt and green spring onions.

But whichever is the better, you be the judge. Call us!

Happy Birthday Lito!

For the longest time, we've been postponing our weekend beach get-away. Since the start of the year, we never really had the chance to own the holidays, as we have practically dedicated Thurdays and Fridays to this small venture.

Just when we are about to declare June 18 & 19 Eureka! (since no client confirmed at the designated time), our good buddy Lito made a short notice. Good thing it was a 'for pick-up' basis, so we never had to make use of extra manpower and logistics as we normally do in delivery and full set-up.

To our buddy boy Lito! May you have more prosperous years ahead of you. Happy birthday!

Here's the menu we prepared for Lito. Everything was picked up from our place in Al Safa: Pansit Malabon, Lumpiang Shanghai, Chicken Macaroni Salad, Sapin-sapin, Ube Biko, Chicken Empanada, & Chinese Fried Rice.
